Problems with OTExpress using
Microsoft Windows XP

The Microsoft Java Virtual Machine is no longer available from Microsoft directly due to legal wrangling with SUN, however it still can be downloaded at the following links.

These links are not part of oregonterritory.org, and are provided as a courtesy. They may stop working at any time.

The file you require is usually called msjavx86.exe, and can be found using a search engine like Google.

As always, be careful where you get your download and don't forget to check it for viruses.

Steps to install the Microsoft Virtual Machine:

  1. Download the file using the links above and save it to your hard drive.
  2. Once the file is on your hard drive, double-click it and load the Virtual Machine.
  3. As the file begins execution, answer Yes to the License Agreement question and when completed, re-boot your PC.
  4. Go to Microsoft and use their Windows Update service to insure you have the very latest version of the Virtual Machine.
  5. You will need to re-boot your PC once again. Once updated and re-booted your Java Virtual Machine should function normally.
